Enjoy the audio and tactile feedback of clicky keys on the compact 4 Pro Mechanical Keyboard for Mac from Das Keyboard.
Das Keyboard Professional Model S
The full-size keyboard features all the Mac-specific keys you are used to, as well as a convenient, large volume knob. The extra-long 6.5' cord plugs into a USB port on your computer, which also provides power for the two USB 3.0 ports on the keyboard. Use this USB hub to transfer files, sync your phone, and attach peripherals. An unexpectedly handy feature is the footbar that raises the keyboard, which is magnetically detachable and scaled on both sides so it can double as a 16' ruler when not in use.
A designated sleep key on the 4 Pro puts your computer to sleep, helping you save energy and get back up and running faster than if you had to shut down and restart. Sturdy construction will keep your 4 Pro running for a long time. Clicky Switches with Tactile Bump The Blue switches have a 'clicky' tactile bump when the activation point is hit.
This feedback helps to increase typing speed by reducing effort needed to push the keys all the way down. The gold-plated switches don't rust and will last up to 50 million keystrokes. Volume Knob & Dedicated Media Controls With its large volume knob, Das Keyboard 4 Pro for Mac allows users to quickly adjust volume while on a Skype call, in a Google Hangout, or when streaming online music. It also provides quick access to dedicated media controls such as mute, play, pause, next, and previous track. In addition to standard Command and Alt/Option keys, the 4 Pro offers access to a number of other Mac-specific key functions.
The keyboard makes it easy to toggle between screens, view your desktop along with other applications that you have open, and access your brightness controls, all at the push of a button. Durable Keys The 4 Pro's silk screen keys are UV hard coated for extra durable inscriptions. The inscription font is also modernized to provide greater ease of reading. The home keys, F and J, have the traditional bumps to help you place your fingers correctly. N-Key Rollover NKRO, or n-key rollover, means that each key is scanned completely independently by the keyboard hardware, so that each keypress is correctly detected regardless of how many other keys are being pressed or held down at the time. This is especially helpful for fast typists and gamers who often press a key before they've fully released the previous one. Rated 5 out of 5 by FotoFlash from Excellent battleship keyboard for MAC converts from PC Being a long time PC extended keyboard user and even Apple II mechanical keyboard, I was having a hard time using the chiclet-style, no number pad, no DELETE key Mac keyboard that came with my iMac.
The Das Keyboard solved all those problems. It is heavy (built like a battleship) and doesn't slide around. The click and feel let me know when keystroke is done. Easy to feel the edges of the keys and know where I am on the keyboard. Extra CTRL key on right is nice and both left and right CTRL keys are in the same relative position, not getting confused with the FN key as on the Apple keyboard. Having a DEL key in normal PC location is great. The round sound volume knob works fine for me.

I don't have any problem with the 6+ foot cord to connect to the iMac - glad it is not short. The 2 USB3 ports also work fine for me and are appreciated. The only downside for me is the sharp edge at my wrists and no wrist rest. That is easily remedied at the store. A less expensive, PC keyboard would also have worked functionally and you have to decide what is best for you. Having the keys (CTRL, OPTION/ALT, CMD) labelled correctly makes the transition from PC to MAC easier. For me, the weight and feel and click of the keyboard was worth the extra cost.

Pcmg Das Keyboard 4 Professional For Mac Mechanical Keyboard
Since this entails writing hundreds of emails, I need a keyboard I can actually type on. While the Apple extended keyboard that came with my 2017 iMac looks great, as a writing tool it's a miserable failure. I found myself spending 2-3 times as much time dealing with simple communication as I was often hitting wrong keys or it would register multiple characters, so I found myself spending a ridiculous amount of time correcting things instead of working. This got old very fast, so I looked at various reviews and came up with two contenders for recommended Mac keyboards.
I would have prefered a tenkeyless model, but the Das had such good reviews I thought I'd give it a try. Because I live in the middle of nowhere, there's no good way to try anything ahead of time and I really needed a workable keyboard ASAP, so I also ordered a Matias Mini Tactile Pro as that also gets good reviews. From what I can tell the Matias is about the only real choice (other than custom) for tenkeyless Mac keyboards. In any case, to save time, I ordered these both (did I mention I'm not a patient guy?). Both keyboards arrived the same day. It took me about five minutes to reject the Matias.
Frankly, side by side, there is no comparrison. The Das is, in every way, a vastly superior keyboard. It's well built, and comforable to type on. My typing speed and accuracy is back and my work flow is much, much easier.
The extra USB 3 ports are also a nice bonus. I'm actually a bit surprised the Matias gets such good reviews as, to me anyway, it's ugly, clunky and feels cheaply made. The way the USB cable attaches is flat out lame. I know some people like them, but it doesn't seem all that impressive to me (in fact I had just given away a 20 year old G4 and Apple extended keyboard and that 20 year old keyboard was vastly superior. I would take that over the Matias any day). Hopefully one of these days Das will release a tenkeyless version.
Wireless would be nice too. However, as a writing tool the Das is great and I'm a very happy camper.
Unless I can find a 20 year old white plastic MacBook that matches the style of the Matias, that will get donated to the second hand store.
